Winter Coffee

My husband asked me to make a thank you card for his boss since the company redistricted and he'll be moving on to another team. I asked him what interests his boss has and he immediately responded "Well, he's always drinking coffee. We joke about it all the time!" Perfect!

I immediately thought Starbucks red cup, so I made my own using a die from MFT Stamps. I cut a watercolor panel with a die and then blended in three different blue inks to create an ombre sky. I flicked a little water over the top to look like falling snow and then used the Stitched Flourish dies from Paper Smooches to add a little texture to the background to look like it was windy. I cut a snowbank panel using a landscape die and then adhered it to my background with some double-sided tape. I adhered the whole panel to a card base with the same double-sided tape and then used my MISTI to stamp my sentiment to the left of the cup of coffee. I used foam tape to adhere the cup for a little bit of dimension. Since this is going to a man, I decided to leave off my typical sparkle and sequins. Love how it turned out!

I decided to enter this card into three challenges because it works so perfectly! First up is the Winter Coffee Lovers' Blog Hop!

Next up are the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (Let it Snow) and Wednesday Challenge with an icy inspiration mood board.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

The last couple of days have brought snow to my new home and it's actually starting to feel like Christmas! After living in the desert for 3 years, the snow is welcome sight! In the spirit of Christmas, I'm working on some holiday cards.

I'm still loving my newest Neat & Tangled purchase and so it was handily sitting on my desk for this card. I simply stamped my images and sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then masked my penguin and Santa with some masking paper. I cut a piece of masking paper with an A2 curved edge die to create my snowy landscape and then blended some blue ink into the sky line to create the horizon line. I removed all of my masks and then used my Copics to color my images. I added small shadows below my images to ground them a bit and then finished it off with some clear Wink of Stella on the star and the lights. I adhered my panel to a Fog Gray card base and it was finished!

I'm entering this card into two challenges. The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - O Christmas Tree and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes.

CASology Guest Designer

Hello! I recently won a CASology challenge and they invited me back to be a guest designer for week 226. This week's cue is:

At first I started thinking birthday candles, but then inspiration hit and I came up with this Christmas card instead!

I used my MISTI to help me position the single candle image three times in a row. I swear that little tool is a lifesaver! I stamped my sentiment in a bold, black ink below my candles and then colored them in with my Copics. I used R35, R37, and R39 for my reds and YR04, Y08, Y04, and Y00 for my flames. When everything was colored, I added a little clear Wink of Stella over the top of the flames to give it some subtle shine. I adhered my panel to a red card base to give it a little bit more color and it was done!

It's so hard to get a good picture of the shine from the Wink of Stella, but this gives you a closer look at the coloring, too!

Tis the Season

I got a small package in the mail yesterday and I just knew I needed to use this sweet little reindeer from Neat & Tangled's newest set Santa's Wonderland. He's just so cute!

This little guy looks so soft and fluffy that I thought he'd be perfect for the current CASology challenge - soft.

I stamped him in my lower right corner and then masked him off so I could stamp the snowdrift behind him and the sentiment following the flow of the background. I cut another mask to cover the bottom of the card and then used Broken China and Tumbled Glass distress inks to create a soft sky in the background. After removing my masks, I colored my image with my Copics and added a small shadow below it. I attached my panel to a card base and added a little bit of  Clear Wink of Stella to my snowman for just a hint of shine.

I'm also going to be entering this card into this month's Little Tangles Challenge - Clean and Simple.
